Hi, I’m Steve Medlin. I grew up right here in Concord, walking on the streets among historic buildings and wonderful, friendly people. I went away to law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My life truly began at UNC when I met my wife to be. She arrived on the airport limousine just as I walked up. I carried her bags up to her dormitory. We went out that night and have been together ever since, nearly 40 years. She improved my life more than words are able to express.

I have 3 adult sons; Scott, who is a Concord city policeman and a canine officer; Ross, who live in St. Petersburg, Fl and teaches an American Institute of Architecture seminar; and Lee, who lives in Raleigh and works with EMC, a computer data storage and security company. My proudest accomplishment is my 3 sons going into the U.S. Military to serve in the war on terrorism. The older 2 left for Paris Island immediately after graduating from high school. Both became U.S. Marine Corps staff sergeants and platoon leaders. They were involved in the invasion of Iraq and the occupation. My youngest son finished college and then went off to Army Officer Training School where he won the physical fitness award and became a First Lieutenant. He served overseas in a classified assignment. All 3 of my children went off to fight for this country in the war on terrorism. I am extremely proud of my three selfless patriots. They are leaders, they are good men. But they do cause me one problem. They make me pop so many buttons off my shirt when I brag about them. They are all 3 college graduates. They all work hard today. And yes sir, I am as proud as a father can be.
